GQ Magazine to Launch Its First NFT Collection Linked to Real-World Rewards

Holders of the GQ3 collection will access live events, merchandise and a subscription to GQ magazine

GQ enters Web3 space with its first NFT collection

Holders of the inaugural GQ3 collection will gain access to live events, merchandise and a magazine subscription.

GQ, the men's fashion magazine, is launching its debut non-fungible token (NFT) collection, which grants its holders various privileges, including access to merchandise, live events, and a magazine subscription.

Dubbed as "GQ3 Issue 001: Change Is Good," the assortment comprises 1,661 NFTs, which are linked to exclusive art pieces created by Chuck Anderson, Kelsey Niziolek, REO, and Serwah Attafuah.

Each token enables its holder to claim additional rewards such as a GQ magazine subscription, an exclusive GQ product box, and a pass to the inaugural GQ3 party in April. Token holders will also receive access to a special Discord channel and will be given priority access to upcoming releases.

Each artist produced over a hundred unique traits that were algorithmically combined to create the series' artwork. The NFTs will be priced at 0.1957 ETH (approximately $330) each as a tribute to the year of GQ's establishment. The collection will be minted in phases starting March 8, commencing with an allowlist of GQ's Discord active members.

GQ is among several established publications that have adopted Web3, with varying degrees of success. CNN, the cable news network, established its NFT marketplace, Vault, in June 2021, but closed it down in October 2022, leading some community members to accuse the platform of conducting a "rug pull." On the other hand, TIME Magazine launched its "TIMEPieces" NFT collection in September 2021, which included works of art from over 40 artists, expanding the project to over 11,450 pieces at present.
